SQUIRRELS, SCRIPTS, AND SLOW JAZZ

Hi. Born in Chicago, raised in Schaumburg, Seoul, and Shanghai — big fan of travel and alliteration.

I started out writing for the local newspaper at U of I while getting my advertising degree. For students and locals, we covered it all: city happenings, what to watch, and why there are so many squirrels in Illinois.

From there I went to Berlin, where I attended Miami Ad School to study copywriting and confuse people (“Why is it called Miami Ad School if it’s in Berlin?”). As part of a dual program, I also attended Steinbeis-Hochschule where I gained insight into creating and developing brand strategy.

In Berlin I joined an ad agency as a Copywriter, working on campaigns for global and local brands. A few years and a flight later, I was back state-side working as a Brand Writer at an agency for brand strategy and messaging. I joined Planned Parenthood as a Copywriter to work on campaigns promoting healthcare and reproductive rights. And most recently, I joined a solar tech startup in San Francisco to help build their brand voice and content.

When I’m not writing scripts for TVCs, I’m thinking of social activations. Kidding. In my free time, I like to run and explore new paths around the city. Finding a hidden gem in that last mile is as satisfying as finding the right turn of phrase. A dirt road by the lake. A pizza parlor that plays slow jazz. A set of stairs that leads to a water fountain where squirrels come to gather, waiting to be written about.
